Children's visits
We see children and adults here. A child's visit is short and calm: first they see the office, then the dentist shows them each instrument, and only then does she check their teeth.
What happens
A child's first visit is usually short, from half an hour to an hour, depending on age.
- 01
Step 1: Seeing the office
The child walks around the room and can climb into the chair with you beside them.
- 02
Step 2: Showing before doing
Dr. Treviño or Dr. Gallardo shows the mirror and the brush and tells the child in plain words what will happen.
- 03
Step 3: The exam
They count the teeth, look at the gums and clean what needs it.
- 04
Step 4: What comes next
They tell you what they saw, what to do at home and when to come back.
The number of visits depends on you. The dentist will tell you what to expect for yours.
Comfort, choices and care
Comfort
You can stay beside your child the whole time. If your child gets nervous, we stop and go on when they are ready. We numb the area only when a treatment calls for it.
If you wait
A cavity in a baby tooth can also grow and hurt, and sometimes affects the tooth that comes in behind it. If you would rather wait, the dentist will tell you what to watch for at home.
Risks and after-care
After numbing, watch that your child doesn't bite their lip or cheek until it wears off. Call us if there is pain that won't ease, or swelling.
How it is billed
The cost is in your written estimate before we start. If your child has a dental plan, Celeste checks beforehand what it pays. Ask us about Medicaid and CHIP before the visit. See how fees work.

Questions about children's visits
From what age can they come?
Call us and Celeste will tell you what the first visit is like for your child's age.
Can I come in with my child?
Yes. You can stay beside them during the visit.
How do I get my child ready?
Tell them they will meet a person who counts teeth. Don't promise they'll feel nothing; say they will be shown everything first.
