Dentures

A full denture replaces all the upper or lower teeth. A partial replaces some and rests on the teeth you keep. Both are made to fit your mouth.

What happens

It usually takes several visits over a few weeks, and then one or more adjustments.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Exam and estimate

The dentist checks your mouth, talks with you about the options and gives you the cost in writing.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Impressions and measurements

Impressions of your mouth are taken and your bite is noted, so the denture fits.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Try-in

You try the denture in before it is finished, and anything that needs it is adjusted.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Delivery and adjustments

It is handed over with written instructions. It is normal to come back to adjust any sore spots.

The number of visits depends on you. The dentist will tell you what to expect for yours.

Comfort, choices and care

  • Comfort

If teeth need to come out or an area needs adjusting, we numb first. A denture feels strange at first, and that is normal. Each adjustment aims at your comfort.

  • If you wait

When teeth are lost and not replaced, the others can shift and chewing gets harder. Some people decide to wait or not to replace them; the dentist will tell you what to watch for.

  • Risks and after-care

There may be spots that rub your gums at first, and chewing takes practice. Take the denture out at night if the dentist tells you to, and clean it daily. Call us if something hurts or moves.

  • How it is billed

The cost is in your written estimate before we start. A dental plan may cover part of it; Celeste checks before you start. Adjustments after delivery are explained in the estimate. See how fees work.

Questions about dentures

How many visits will I need?

Several, over a few weeks. The dentist will tell you how many in your case when she gives you the estimate.

Will I need adjustments afterward?

Almost always. It is a normal part of the care and is explained in the estimate.

How do I care for my denture?

It is cleaned daily with a soft brush and kept in water or in the solution you are told to use. We give you instructions in writing.
